Translation (Tahereh Saffarzadeh): Verily, the knowledge of the Hour of Resurrection is only with Allah; and Allah is the One Who sends down rain and He is the One Who knows what wombs bear. Not any one knows what will happen to him tomorrow, nor does anyone know in what land he is to die. Verily, Allah is the Informed Knower of all things and affairs.
Translation (M.H. Shakir): Surely Allah is He with Whom is the knowledge of the hour, and He sends down the rain and He knows what is in the wombs; and no one knows what he shall earn on the morrow; and no one knows in what land he shall die; surely Allah is Knowing, Aware.

THE TRANSLATION

VERILY WITH ALLAH IS THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOUR, AND HE SENDS DOWN THE PAIN, AND KNOWS WHAT IS IN THE WOMBS. AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT HE MAY EARN TOMORROW. AND NO ONE KNOWS IN WHAT LAND SHALL HE DIE. ONLY ALLAH IS ALL-KNOWING, ALL-WISE.

THE COMMENTARY

THE EXTENT OF GOD'S KNOWLEDGE

VERSE NO.33-34

The last two verses will sum up all discussions of the whole chapter of Loghmän, and concludes that:-

``O, People! Beware of your Lord, and fear the day in which no father can avail his child, and nor a child can avail aught of his father....''

The relations are then broken, and promises and covenants are violated, and everyone holds his own cap, not to give it to the wind.

The ending of the verse warns Man, not to be deluded by the life of this world; or elated by Satan through his own arrogance and baseless prides:-

``....So let not the life of this world delude you, and let not (devil) elate you against Allah and His commandments by your pride.''

The power of evil may delude us by the fleeting amusements, and make us forget that there is coming an hour of reckoning, in which we all have to answer for our faults and sins.

We must not be heedless in this regard, that the hour may come out of a sudden, and when we least expect it. We also should know that death is the beginning of the hour.

The last verse (NO.34) explains clearly that our knowledge is limited to what Allah will teach us, but the knowledge of Allah is infinite and will have no limits. Then some instances are given to prove that:-

``Only with Allah is the knowledge of the Hour. He sends the rain, and He knows what is in the wombs, and no Man knows what he may earn tomorrow, or in what land may he die.''

Our life which begins in the womb of mother, and also our death rests in the hands of God. No one exactly knows in that mysterious threefold darknesses of the stomach, womb, and amnion, what is going on, and what will eventually happen, and what the final outcome will be?

So is the case with our death, of which we are sure enough, but when is that, and where it happens? No one can see the unseen except God, and no one will even know what will happen to him tomorrow, or what he may earn in the next day.

Of course this is so very good of God that he has concealed the time of our death from us.

What can the state of a hopeful active man and his near kins become, if they are informed that in near future he is to be burnt to ashes in a fire, or has to leave for good by a car accident!? Therefore many thanks to God that:-

``....No one knows what he may earn tomorrow, and in what land and when shall he die. So good is that we do not know what the tomorrow may bring forth. At least we may live our little while with a good hope.''

As to the clause, ``HE KNOWS WHAT IS IN THE WOMBS'', it does not clearly imply that God keeps that knowledge exceptionally for Himself, and that He will not teach that knowledge to anyone else.

God knows all the details of what the fetus in the womb may have or already has, such as being a male or female, tall or short, strong or weak, generous or miser, intelligent or unintelligent, brave or coward and etc. God may teach Man in time to know some of the qualifications of the embryo in the womb, be He is the only one who knows all the details.
